Whether you’re new to broom making or refining your skills\, this hands-on class will guide you through the process of creating a beautiful\, functional cobwebber broom—perfect for clearing cobwebs from high corners\, sweeping behind the fridge\, or getting toys out from under the couch! \nLed by Brian Geier\, farmer and craftsperson\, participants will learn traditional broom-making techniques and leave with a handmade broom ready to take home. SUMMARY:Broomcorn for Organic Transition Field Day
DESCRIPTION:Monday August 10th (Rain date Monday August 17)\nWe’re excited to welcome you to a unique event showcasing broomcorn as an organic transition strategy and niche crop. We’ll tour a broomcorn variety trial\, discuss harvest strategies\, and showcase post-harvest handling of broomcorn for broom making. Registration is free and includes lunch. \nDoors open at 8:30AM | Program begins at 9:00 AM \nProgram concludes at 1:30 PM followed by optional activities ending at 2:30 PM \nSpace is limited to 40 participants. If you register after the limit has been reached\, you will be added to the waitlist and we will reach out if a space becomes available. \nThis project is supported by a grant from USDA’s Northcentral Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education\, NCSARE. \nREGISTER HERE.
